Seasonal Meditations – Medieval and Renaissance Music

Seasonal Meditations is a recording of works by Northern European composers from the Middle Ages and Early Renaissance.  Much of this dreamy, meditative music was composed when printed materials were unheard of, musical notation was an inexact science still in its infancy, and manuscripts were painstakingly copied and beautifully illuminated in monasteries throughout Europe.

Although many of these pieces were originally written for the human voice, the performances here have been adapted for digital samples of organ and other period instruments.

I’ve always been fascinated by early music and the people who created it. Seasonal Meditations is a collection of songs I recorded that are approximately 500 years old. I used synthesizers to re-create this music from the original scores which are mostly written for voice with lyrics in Latin, Italian, or French. Adieu and a few other pieces were used as the soundtrack for a video game teaching kids about Medieval history.
